Welcome to my blog! If you are a friend, family member, or a curious acquaintance I hope you enjoy reading as much as I enjoy writing this. Disclaimer: I am a Christian guy. So ladies I apologize upfront if it seems one sided, that is never my intention. Bear with me, I promise my blog will be gender neutral. My hope is the Lord uses my writings to bring in some way glory to Him. Let’s begin…
I was hanging out the other day with some guys and my friend stated, “I tend to overthink everything…This is the first time I would describe myself as a thinker.” For some reason, my friend’s statement has been like a pebble in my shoe. To let you know ladies, yes, the men in your life do think a lot, despite your lack of belief. I can’t begin to go in detail on how many thoughts and “what ifs” my mind can seem to conjure in a mere 60 minutes. I would say the “what ifs” increase and become more in depth depending on the man’s season of his life.
Looking back at my college season, if I could go back in time, I definitely would choose differently to dodge hard lessons I needed to learn. Some choices are not detrimental, which allow us to bounce back and readjust, but others sends us down a different path. No matter the choices the Lord can always use them to steer us back to Him. Those that know me know the choices I have made and the path I have traveled. As much as I wish I could redo those bad choices, you know what, The Lord is merciful and has used them to shape, break, and guide me back to him.
To those that live in regret and sorrow I pray you don’t dwell on those past decisions. Yes, you made them. Yes, it may not have turned out the way you planned it, but sin never leads to victory. Only trusting Jesus and allowing him be the driver, the captain, or the pilot of your life can lead to healing.
Trust me, I speak as a person who threw the middle finger to the Lord and said let me take the captain seat. At the end of my junior year of college I led the ship into a reef of the most treacherous territory I could imagine. He had me broken on my knees shouting, “Oh captain, my captain!” R.I.P. Robin Williams smh And the beautiful part was he is so gracious and merciful that he didn’t rebuke me, but welcomed me back with open loving arms. Jesus, back in the captain seat of my life, has me charted for unknown territory, but the peace on this adventure is phenomenal. Yes, I returned to the Lord, and he is leading me to be a missionary. I truly want to go to the front and help share his Gospel to those that have never heard. Just because he is leading me to the mission field; don’t fear, He doesn’t lead all overseas. You are used to reach people wherever you go or whomever you come in contact with even if you are working as a security guard for music festivals.
“Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.” —Revelation 3:20
He is always knocking. It’s on us if we choose to open up, embrace the friendship and dine with him.
And to clarify, I’m not talking about going back to religion. Religion is not what Jesus was talking about. Some people need to pick up that book called the bible and start reading. Our Creator created us for fellowship with him. Following Jesus is a relationship Christians tend to lose focus on. I have no problem saying those “Christians” in America, that always somehow make it on CNN protesting or condemning other people groups, are caught up on religion and spending too much time thinking they are the captain.
….So, men are thinkers… Get use to some random thoughts interrupting the flow. I believe we think so much because we fear the unknown. Let’s face it, the future can be scary. Trusting in God, someone you can’t see, is hard for people now a days to grasp. The American culture teaches that if you want something, all you got to do is click an app and instantly you get it. This past year searching for Jesus has taught me that the captain seat was never designed for us!! We spend so much time thinking a.k.a. worrying, because we all know deep down we are humans who make errors so easily. And by some chance, you are the person who is reading this and has the “perfect” life, makes all the “right” choices, or the world just seems to go your way, I hate to break it to you… YOU ain’t perfect for the captain seat either. If anything, you may need God even more then you believe, because the prince of this world wants to keep you focused on pleasing your worldly image rather then admit your insecurity.
If you never read Luke 10:38-42, definitely spend the 3 minutes, if that, to read the 5 versus. Cliff note version: Lord stopped in the House of Martha and Mary. Martha, trying to be a good host, spent all the time in the kitchen preparing the food for her guest. Now, her sister Mary, decided to opt out on the preparing and decided to sit and listen to Jesus’ words…
“…She (Martha) came to him (Jesus) and asked, ‘Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!’ ‘Martha, Martha’ the Lord answered, ‘you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed -or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.'” — Luke 10:40-42
In conclusion, to stop thinking/worrying about the future, we need to sit and rest at our Creator’s feet. Letting Jesus take the reigns of your life is a choice I can guarantee will take you on a adventure you could never have possibly imagined.
If you made it this far, congrats! You win my…admiration great prize huh? Any who, I thank you for making time to read my blog. If I upset you in anyway that was never my intention. I just wanted you to reflect. Feel free to comment or message me via social media.
Until next time.
